Bannie Lee's Parents

Bannie Lee Carter's parents were John Carter (1869-1943) and Jennie Prestwood (1875-1956).  I found this picture on Ancestry.com contributed by Eva Jean Tatom Whitman (her grandmother was Eva Eunice, Bannie's little sister).  I wonder when this picture was taken?  What was the occasion? They look stern.

John Carter was the son of  Daniel Thaddeus Carter (1845-1917) and Marenda Flowers (1845-1926).  Daniel Thaddeus Carter was born in Stewart County, Georgia but lived in the Pike County area by 1860.  Marenda Flowers was born in Pike County.

Jennie Prestwood was the daughter of Francis Marion Prestwood (1845-1923) and Georgia Alabama Black (1849-1928).  Francis Marion Prestwood was born in Holmes County, Florida but his family was settled in the Coffee/Pike County, Alabama area.  Georgia Alabama Black was born in Pike County, Alabama.

This picture of Jennie Prestwood (Carter) is from the brochure produced in the 1980s to raise funds for naming a women's dormitory in her honor.
